Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

Rhinoplasty is a surgery that changes the shape and size of the nose. You may want to undergo rhinoplasty because you have suffered a trauma to your nose and disfigured it, or you may naturally have a nose that you think is too arched, too wide, too long or drooping.

However, people sometimes dislike the shape of their nostrils because they think their nostrils are too wide or too large. They feel that their self-confidence is shaken because the shape of their nose negatively affects their general appearance.

Generally speaking, it is ideal for people who are dissatisfied with the size, shape or contour of their nose and want it to be surgically reshaped. Rhinoplasty surgery can be performed for purposes such as improving the cosmetic appearance of the nose, or for people who have difficulty breathing after a previous trauma or due to a deviation of the septum.

Like facelift, the treatment is always tailored to the individual needs of the patient in order to achieve the best possible rhinoplasty results.

After The Surgery

You may be advised to:

  • The head can be supported with a pillow for a few days while resting to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid taking very hot showers and wetting the splint
  • Care should be taken when blowing or cleaning your nose.
  • Sneeze through your mouth to avoid putting pressure on your nose.
  • Avoid dusty or smoky places

Healing Process

  • You may need to take up to 2 weeks off work to recover from nose surgery.
  • It may take a few months for you to see the full effect of the surgery, and up to 6 months for the swelling to go down completely.
  • After about a week: Stitches can be removed (if you don’t have dissolving stitches).
  • In the 3rd week: Bruises, swelling and redness may be gone. There is no obstacle in your swimming.
  • In 4 to 6 weeks: You can do intense workouts.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty is usually done to correct deformities that have occurred as a result of previous surgery, but may be necessary in patients unfortunate enough to have suffered trauma after previous rhinoplasty surgery. Patients may be dissatisfied with the appearance of the nose after their first procedure and this can also affect breathing. However, it is critical for the surgeon to feel and gain confidence that further surgery will improve the current situation.

Choosing the right surgeon is important when undergoing any surgery, and this is even more important when considering corrective surgery. In order to perform revision rhinoplasty, the surgeon must have advanced knowledge and experience in rhinoplasty surgery, as well as a special interest in revision surgery with corrective experience and techniques in this particular field. They may also need to deal with functional (breathing) disorders that often accompany aesthetic problems.
