Lead your team into a bomb site with these Agents.
Valorant is a free-to-play 5v5 first-person shooter game developed by Riot Games. It has quickly become a popular game despite only being released last June 2020. The game focuses on players taking over an objective, in this case bomb sites, and deploy the Spike. Aside from gunplay, the game’s unique twist is on the playable characters, Agents. Players can select an Agent they want to play, and each Agent has its own set of abilities that can be impactful in the game.
Teams will take turns defending sites or attacking them. Each Agent fulfills a specific role using their skillset. There are agents that are great at defending these sites while there are those that excel in entering them.
Entry Fragging
Entry fragging is a term often used in team-based shooters, particularly for those with Valorant accounts. The role of an entry fragger is to create opportunities for their team to get into a site, whether it be through killing defenders or by distracting enemies.
In Valorant, each Agent has a specific role. There are Duelists, Initiators, Sentinels, and Controllers. Duelists are skilled in offensive engagements. Their abilities allow them to play aggressively while at the same time being self-sufficient. Initiators are great at providing information for their team or limiting the enemy’s movement. Controllers specialize in “blinding” the enemy by controlling their line of sight through smokescreens. This allows them to sneak around the map and catch unsuspecting enemies off guard. Sentinels are defensive experts that can stay on a site and delay attackers.
Duelists are the best choice for entry fragging because of their abilities. They have abilities that can block enemy angles, flush out hiding enemies, or get them safely out of the fight. Duelists often engage a site first and make risky plays. Valorant currently has six Duelists in the game: Jett, Phoenix, Raze, Reyna, Neon, and Yoru. We will go over how their kit works well for entry fragging.
Jett
Jett is a mobile Agent that can create cover for her team. Here is a quick rundown of her abilities.
Q – Updraft
- Propels Jett high into the air.
E – Tailwind
- Propels Jett toward the direction she is facing.
C – Cloudburst
- Throws a projectile that expands into a cloud that blocks vision upon hitting a surface.
X – Blade Storm
- Jett equips a set of knives that refresh on a kill. She can use the alternate fire button to fire all knives at her target.
Jett can be a great entry fragger because her Cloudburst ability can block enemy sight or provide cover for herself and her team as they enter a site. She is great in gunfights because of the mobility Tailwind provides. She can quickly dash inside a site, shoot down an enemy or two, and then dash back to safety.
Blade Storm is extremely strong when hunting down enemies. It can one-hit kill enemies through headshots. Blade Storm is also dangerous in close combat because of the alternate fire. However, Jett will let out a voiceline when using Blade Storm, notifying both allies and enemies.
Updraft is great for taking high positions or soaring over obstacles to shoot enemies behind cover. Jett can also use updraft to get a position where she can scout the position of her enemies.
Phoenix
Phoenix is a Duelist that can block sightlines with a smoke or flash.
Q – Curveball
- Phoenix throws a curving ball of fire that bursts into a flash of light. Phoenix can curve the projectile towards left or right.
E – Hot Hands
- Throw a fireball that creates a pool of fire on the ground which damages enemies. Phoenix is healed when he steps on the fire.
C – Blaze
- Phoenix creates a wall of flames that blocks enemy sight. Anyone that touches the flames will take damage.
X – Run it Back
- Phoenix marks his current location. If Phoenix dies, or if the timer runs out while the marker is active, he will respawn on top of it with full health.
Phoenix’s abilities make him a strong entry fragger. He has two ways of blocking enemy sight. Blaze can be used to provide cover for the team while at the same time, damaging anyone who passes through it. Be careful when using Blaze though. Don’t use it to block your team’s entryway because allies also take damage from the flames, crippling your Valorant account performance.
Curveball is also a good way to block enemy sight. Enemies will have to reposition for a bit to avoid getting flashed or risk getting their vision blocked for a few seconds. The flash will also affect Phoenix and his allies, so be careful when using this ability.
Hot Hands is a useful ability for entry fragging because it can flush out enemies hiding behind cover. Phoenix can throw it at possible hiding spots to force the enemy to reposition and reveal themselves or risk dying from the fire. Hot Hands can also be used to regenerate lost HP taking damage from entry fragging.
Phoenix’s ultimate, Run it Back, is one of the best abilities for entry fragging. It’s basically a redo just in case the first entry attempt doesn’t work out. Run it Back can be used to enter a site and draw enemy fire to figure out their positions. It’s best to use it when there are teammates nearby that can guard the marker.
Yoru
Yoru is an Agent that can confuse enemies with fake footsteps. His abilities also allow him to teleport and flash enemies.
Q – Blindside
- Throw a projectile that will ricochet off the first surface it hits, charging up a flash that detonates after a brief delay.
E – Gatecrash
- Send a projectile that travels in a straight line. Yoru can activate the ability again to teleport to the projectile’s location.
C – Fakeout
- Send out echoes that produce footstep sounds. The echoes can be sent to travel in a line similar to Gatecrash
X – Dimensional Drift
- Yoru equips a mask and slips into another dimension. While in the other dimension, Yoru cannot take damage, or affect enemies. The mask lets him see between dimensions.
Yoru can entry frag through Blindside or Gatecrash. Blindside disables enemy sight when they get caught in it. It can also make enemies hide for cover to avoid the flash. This gives Yoru and his team the opportunity to enter the site.
Gatecrash can be used to send the projectile directly into a site then teleport to it. Just make sure the area where the projectile travels to is safe. This ability, along with Blindside make for a good combo. Yoru can send out Gatecrash and then Blindside to prevent enemies from seeing where Yoru will teleport to.
Dimensional Drift is also useful because it can provide information before trying to enter into a site. While in Dimensional Drift, Yoru can see enemies while being unaffected by gunfire. It’s a great way to scout enemies or make them reposition.
Reyna
Reyna is a high-skill Agent that thrives in taking down enemies.
Q – Devour
- Whenever Reyna kills an enemy, they drop a soul orb that Reyna can use for her abilities. Using Devour on a soul orb rapidly heals Reyna. Excess healing grants Reyna additional health that decays over time.
E – Dismiss
- Using Dismiss when near a soul orb makes Reyna intangible for a few seconds, enabling her to avoid gunfire.
C – Leer
- Throw a projectile that can pass through walls. Enemies within range of the projectile when it activates will have their sight radius reduced.
X – Empress
- Reyna enters an empowered state, gaining increased fire rate, equip, and reload speed. Scoring a kill in this state refreshes the duration. Using Dismiss in this state will also turn Reyna invisible.
Duelists are reliant on players’ skills to succeed, and Reyna is one of the most skill-reliant Agent in Valorant. Devour and dismiss both require Reyna to get kills in order to be usable. In the right hands, Reyna can be a great entry fragger.
Leer is the ability that will allow Reyna to enter sights and shoot at enemies affected by Leer. The projectile can pass through walls, making it a good entry ability that can be cast from cover. However, there’s two weaknesses to the ability. Leer can be destroyed by enemy gunfire, and it only reduces the sight for a certain range. Enemies will still be able to see the immediate area around them.
Devour and Dismiss are amazing abilities as long as Reyna gets to kill her enemies. They are great for a gunfight and against multiple enemies. Dismiss is especially great at repositioning after getting a kill, while Devour can be used to heal up after taking damage from entry fragging.
Reyna’s ultimate ability only furthers her dueling power. The increased fire rate means Reyna will most likely win a gunfight, given that all her shots hit. In the Empress state, Reyna automatically gets Devour’s effects after a kill, ensuring that she is ready for her next target. Devour can then be used to reposition or even assault enemies from behind their backs.
These Agents are the best choices for getting those entry frags. Getting entry frags often requires good aim, so entry fragging is better suited to Valorant account owners that have spent hours polishing their shooting skills.
