How To Summon Uber Duriel & The Ice Beast In Diablo 4 Season 2?

As we all know, 5 new endgame bosses have been added to Diablo 4 Season 2, namely: Grigoire The Galvanic Saint, Varshan, Lord Zir, Ice Beast and Uber Duriel. In my opinion, the Ice Beast and Uber Duriel are the two hardest ones to challenge.

Here, I’ll mainly introduce how to summon these two endgame bosses and tell you some precautions.

How To Summon Uber Duriel?

To summon Uber Duriel, we have to be in World Tier 4 and we need 2 Shards of Agony, 2 Mucus-Slick Eggs and buy Diablo 4 Items in advance.

How To Get Duriel Items?

Shards of Agony come from defeating Grigoire in the Hall of the Penitent, which takes 5 Living Steel.

Mucus Eggs come from defeating Varshan at the Tree of Whispers, which requires a Trembling Hand, Blackened Femur, Malignant Heart, and Gurgling Head.

Once you have 2 of each summoning item, head to the Gaping Crevasse in southern Kehjistan.

After a short distance, you’ll arrive at the Pestilent Altar, which will be used to summon Duriel.

Duriel Fight Guide

Duriel King of Maggots and his adds all do large amounts of poison damage.

Be sure to max out your poison resistance and buy a Poison Elixir at the Alchemist. This can also be used to raise the maximum resistance from 70% to 76%.

Duriel has a large variety of attacks and projectiles. Duriel’s basic attack is a small cleave. When he pierces, the ground poison will erupt from it and will create a poison puddle where it lands.

If Duriel moves back and forth multiple times, he will release a cone of projectiles in front of him. After this animation, Duriel will charge forward with a narrow amount of tracking.

Duriel can summon maggots from the sky. These do high damage on impact.

When Duriel burrows into the ground, he will reappear from a crater along with an add in another crater. This add will act like a turret and shoot projectiles with high damage. If an add does not die in time, it will burrow itself and reappear again from another crater.

Duriel has a wind up animation where he will grab you and eat you. Be careful of this one.

Defeating Duriel has a higher chance of dropping Uber Uniques, the new unique items in Season 2, and also some of the strongest uniques for each class.

Use the Diablo 4 discord to team up with other players and share D4 items, which will instead give you 4 chances of receiving the drops.

How To Summon The Ice Beast?

To summon the Ice Beast, we first need to collect 9 Distilled Fear, which we get from completing Tier 30 + Nightmare Dungeons.

It appears the drop rate for Distilled Fear is not 100% and completing higher tiered Nightmare Dungeons will give a higher drop rate. When completing a nightmare dungeon, there is nothing to pick up. Distilled Fear will automatically be put in your consumables tab.

Head over to the Occultist, and craft the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil for 9 Distilled Fear and 250 Sigil Powder. Activating this Nightmare Sigil works just like a regular Nightmare Sigil, including the free teleport.

Unlike the other endgame bosses, there’ are a lot of enemies to fight in this dungeon. You can collect a lot of Diablo 4 Gold and XP from this.

Ice Beast Fight Guide

At the end, instead of using a summoning altar, the Ice Beast will simply enter the arena like a normal dungeon boss.

The Ice Beast uses chill damage, so I recommend having max resistance and using a Cold Elixir crafted from the Alchemist.

The Ice Beast has normal attacks, similar to that of a Balrog, with some added projectile attacks as well.

When The Ice Beast goes to the center, stay in the center and be ready to dodge these line telegraphs by going to the safe zone. Being hit by this attack will knock you outside the stage and do high damage over time.

The Ice Beast will summon adds during this phase, stay alert for more line telegraphs. The Ice Beast has a star style telegraph, which you’ll need to dodge. Use mobility skills, evade, or have a high movement speed to dodge this attack. Getting hit will slow your movement speed and eventually freeze you.
