Getting into OSRS Wilderness PKing is hard, but it is worth it, especially if you want a real challenge.
There are quite a few reasons to get into Wilderness PKing. Primarily, you’ll get the best OSRS GP in the game, have a great diversity of kills, and have a lot of fun from the high-risk, high-reward specificity of Wilderness PKing. It depends a lot on your idea of fun. Do you enjoy a slow-paced or fast-paced game? Or do you love diversity or prefer to use the same mechanics repeatedly? Regardless, if you like upgrading your bank and obtaining loads of OSRS gold, Wilderness PKing is undoubtedly something you should consider.
PKing Isn’t for Everyone
Regardless of how good it sounds and how tempting all the promises for OSRS GP are, be aware that PKing is just not for everyone, and it’s rather hard to get into. This is because you’ll need to have some experience PvPing and some disposable OSRS gold for the gear you’re willing to lose.
If you’re not willing to spend that much currency, you can choose to build a new account specifically for PKing and make it a combat pure. A pure account manipulates how the combat level works to gain a specific advantage at the cost of something. For example, one defense pure are considered glass cannons who maximize their offensive skills at the cost of their defense while keeping their combat level lower to attack a wider variety of players.
Up for A Challenge?
You will face a few challenges when getting into Wilderness PKing. How hard it will be for you depends on your skillset. A challenging aspect is learning the switches. OSRS is a game in which fights are based on a combat triangle, with each of the three skills being strong against one and weak against another one. Magic beats melee, melee beats range, and range beats magic. You will need to quickly switch from using one gear to another, adapting based on your opponent’s use. At the same time, you will need to defensively switch your protection prayer based on what your opponent is using.
You can have a fair amount of practice with certain bosses to switch your gear and protection prayers, but they are predictable. Other humans are not. The unpredictability makes it hard but fun for so many PKers. You either practice with a friend or join LMS to get the hang of it before adventurings. We recommend joining a PvP clan where you will find numerous players willing to help you get into PKing. While PvP clans have a certain level of toxicity, they are often filled with extremely friendly and helpful players who are always willing to help a beginner get into this content.
But the PK challenges go beyond learning the ropes. It’s gaining the spirit, the presence, the focus, and the mindfulness of it. The intensity, of course, varies at times as you face different opponents. It is a very click-intensive activity that also requires loads of patience. You’ll also need to be patient with yourself, accept your defeats and learn from them. It’s developing the skills over time and stretching your adaptability to the point where you can confidently face your adversaries and switch your gear and prayers accordingly. Pressing your key binds fast enough to prioritize your prayer, gear switches, or special attack are part of the experience. All the practice, the time it takes to learn, and the complexity of it make Wilderness PKing a real challenge for many players.
The Different Ways of Killing Players
Closely related to the challenges offered by Wilderness PKing, you’ll find a lot of motivation in the diversity of the kills. PKing will feel like a treat if you find it boring to do the same thing repeatedly. Even though the basics are the same each time (the combat triangle), each kill feels different even if your victims use the same OSRS items, human unpredictability, the context of the fight, and your opponent’s combat levels. Plus, other factors contribute to this diversity of the kills. You cannot know if your opponent has friends joining in or what wonders their inventory holds.
Wildness PKing is Great for Farming OSRS Gold
The most significant incentive to hunt in the wilderness is the OSRS gold you can obtain. You can get a lot of it depending on the victims and what they are carrying. Also, if you’re in a PvP clan, you’ll have your kill broadcasted for everyone to know that you killed or got killed and the amount of OSRS GP the kill or death is worth. The amount you’ll get can vary greatly, and it’s based on several factors like what your victim was doing in the Wilderness if you’re solo PKing or group PKing.
